Partnerships for Innovation Newsletter
January 2012
Greetings!

It's hard to believe another year has started! If you're like me you've wondered where January has gone and why you are still writing 2011. I believe this year will prove to be a foundational year for the opportunities to come in our state and Career and Technical Education.

This month Partnerships for Innovation will be hosting the fourth NEXUS Conference in Grand Island. NEXUS is for those in CTE Professional Organizations. We are excited to welcome back Molly Skold from Midtown Crossing as our lead facilitator. The theme is how to market your nonprofit organization with little or no money. While this event is by invitation only, all the materials and resources will be available to the public on the PFI website under Professional Development after January 28th.

I will be attending the 2012 Nebraska Entrepreneurship Summit February 24th at the Embassy Suites in LaVista and hope to see you there. While I am not an entrepreneur, and do believe I am an intrapreneur and can spark innovation within the PFI organization. I learn so much from the Summit that I bring back to PFI - a different perspective is always a great way to learn and grow!

Many of you have contacted me to assist with the future planning and development of CTE programs, of which I am very appreciative to be of service. It is so important to evaluate our current work while planning for the future which is constantly evolving and changing.

Sincerely,

East Carolina University is using Second Life (virtual learning) for an Early College Program.

Second Life has many educational applications which can be safe for high school programs. So you can't provide an opportunity in person for a student - What about SL?
